Over the weekend, LingoAce co-sponsored a special sold-out screening the award-winning HBO documentary, 38 at the Garden, at Chase Center in San Francisco. This film revisits the cultural impact of our brand ambassador Jeremy Lin's landmark 2012 season with the New York Knicks, a phenomenal moment known as "Linsanity." Recently, the film made the 95th Academy Award's shortlist for best documentary short.

More than 2,000 San Francisco Bay Area fans came out to the sold-out event, which was made possible by our co-sponsors: Golden State Entertainment (the entertainment division of the NBA's Golden State Warriors), The Asian American Foundation (TAAF), and the Jeremy Lin Foundation.

Similar to the event that LingoAce hosted at Harvard University last November, the film screening was followed by a panel moderated by local Bay Area ABC7 TV anchor and reporter, Dion Lim. We enjoyed Jeremy sharing his thoughts on the film and more importantly, how his success was enabled by the love and support of his parents – in addition to the audacity to dream. Also joining the panel were 38 at the Garden Director Frank Chi, Academy- and Emmy-Award winning producers Travon Free and Samir Hernandez. BAYCAT Founder, President & CEO Villy Wang also participated and shared her perspective on pursing her passion to empower underrepresented youth to become storytellers, like the documentary's filmmakers.

Linsanity was not just the phenomenon of Jeremy Lin’s rise and domination on the NBA basketball court. It was a revelation that shattered stereotypes about what Asian Americans can achieve and what it means to belong – which continues to have great impact on the Asian American community. As LingoAce’s CEO Hugh Yao shared previously, "Linsanity transcended cultural, racial, and national boundaries, and has united people regardless of their backgrounds, ethnicities, and citizenship. What Jeremy represents and what he’s accomplished are what we as an education company hope to inspire in our next generation of learners."
