 1. Chinese Idiom Chain (成语接龙)  

Rules: Each student takes turns saying an idiom, and the next student must use the last character of the previous idiom to start their new one. 

 

Example: 

- Student A: 一帆风顺 (Yī fān fēng shùn) 

- Student B: 顺手牵羊 (Shùn shǒu qiān yáng) 

- Student C: 羊肠小道 (Yáng cháng xiǎo dào) 

 

This activity helps students deepen their understanding of Chinese idioms, promote memorization, and improve language application skills.

 2. Word Chain (词语接龙) 

 

Rules: Each student takes turns saying a word, and the next student must start their word with the last character of the previous word. 

 

Example: 

- Student A: 苹果 (Píngguǒ) – apple 

- Student B: 果汁 (Guǒ zhī) – juice 

- Student C: 汁液 (Zhī yè) – liquid 

 

This game helps students accumulate commonly used vocabulary and increases their sensitivity to words. 

 

 3. Pinyin Typing Race (拼音打字比赛) 

 

Rules: The teacher shows a pinyin syllable, and students must quickly type the corresponding Chinese character. The fastest and most accurate student wins. 

 

Example: 

- Teacher shows the pinyin "bāo," and students must quickly type "包." 

 

This game helps students increase typing speed with pinyin and strengthens the connection between pinyin and Chinese characters. 

 

 4. "Find a Match" Pairing Game (找朋友配对游戏) 

 

Rules: The teacher prepares a set of words or sentences, split into two parts. Students need to match the corresponding halves. 

 

Example: 

- Word set A: 长大 (cháng dà) – grow up, 聪明 (cōng míng) – smart, 生日 (shēng rì) – birthday 

- Word set B: 祝福 (zhù fú) – blessing, 愿望 (yuàn wàng) – wish, 以后 (yǐ hòu) – in the future 

 

Students must match "长大" with "以后," "聪明" with "愿望," and "生日" with "祝福." 

 

This activity helps students understand word contexts and enhances their ability to pair words effectively. 

 

 5. Chinese Riddle Game (中文猜谜语) 

 

Rules: The teacher gives a riddle, and students try to guess the answer. 

 

Example: 

- Riddle: 小小东西转眼飞,带着翅膀把天追。它的身体又短又胖,喜欢在夜间作响。猜一个动物。(A small thing that flies with wings, chasing the sky. Its body is short and fat, and it likes to make noise at night. Guess an animal.) 

- Answer: 蝙蝠 (biàn fú) – bat

 6. "Who is the Spy?" Game (谁是卧底游戏) 

 

Rules: Each student is given a word, and one student has a "spy" word. Students ask questions to identify the spy. 

 

Example: 

- Student A: 苹果 (apple) 

- Student B: 香蕉 (banana) 

- Student C: 水果 (fruit) 

- Student D: 葡萄 (grape) 

- Student E (Spy): 飞机 (airplane) 

 

This game improves students' observational skills, reasoning abilities, and Chinese language expression. 

 

 7. Role Play (角色扮演) 

 

Rules: Students perform a role-play based on a scenario provided by the teacher and practice dialogues. 

 

Example: 

- Scenario: You are a hotel receptionist, and a guest is checking in. Student A plays the receptionist, and Student B plays the guest. 

- Student A: 您好,欢迎光临!请问有什么可以帮您的吗? (Hello, welcome! How can I assist you?) 

- Student B: 我预定了一个房间,名字是李华。(I’ve reserved a room under the name Li Hua.) 

 

Role-playing helps students practice Chinese conversation in real-life situations and enhances their language usability. 

 

 8. Picture Description (看图说话) 

 

Rules: The teacher shows a picture, and students must describe it in Chinese. 

 

Example: 

- Teacher shows a picture of a park, and students describe: 公园里有很多人,有的在跑步,有的在打篮球,还有一些人在树下休息。(There are many people in the park. Some are running, some are playing basketball, and others are resting under the trees.) 

 

This activity improves students’ observation skills and their ability to express themselves in Chinese.

 9. Chinese Puzzle (中文拼图) 

 

Rules: The teacher divides a picture into several parts, with each part having either pinyin or Chinese characters. Students need to match the pinyin or characters to complete the picture. 

 

Example: 

- Teacher displays a puzzle with the pinyin "bào" and asks students to complete the character "包." 

 

This activity helps students connect pinyin and Chinese characters, enhancing their memory and recognition. 

 

 10. Dictation Relay (听写接龙) 

 

Rules: The teacher quickly reads a set of words or sentences, and students must write them in order. After one student completes, the next student continues the chain. 

 

Example: 

- Teacher: 我喜欢吃苹果。 (I like to eat apples.) 

- Student A: 我喜欢吃苹果,香蕉。 (I like to eat apples and bananas.) 

- Student B: 我喜欢吃苹果,香蕉,葡萄。 (I like to eat apples, bananas, and grapes.)

 11. Tongue Twisters (中文绕口令) 

 

Rules: The teacher gives a tongue twister, and students must try to say it quickly and clearly. The fastest and most accurate student wins. 

 

Example: 

- Teacher: 四是四,十是十,十四是十四,四十是四十。(Four is four, ten is ten, fourteen is fourteen, forty is forty.) 

 

Tongue twisters help students improve pronunciation and fluency, while increasing their sensitivity to Chinese sounds. 

 

 12. Find the Character (找字游戏) 

 

Rules: The teacher prepares a set of similar-looking characters, and students must identify and write them based on their shapes or sounds. 

 

Example: 

- Teacher presents characters “王” (Wáng) and “玉” (Yù), and students identify the differences and write them. 

 

This game helps students strengthen their understanding of character structures and their ability to distinguish similar characters. 

 

 13. Chinese Riddle Relay (中文谜语接龙) 

 

Rules: Students take turns presenting riddles, with each riddle’s answer being a clue for the next riddle.
