LingoAce Chinese Live Classroom Rules

Course Purchase, Assignment, and Scheduling
- Class Purchase. The LingoAce platform provides students with a variety of learning options, including 1-on-1 individual classes as well as small group classes in various formats (1v3, 1v4, 1v5, etc.). Students or their parent or guardian may choose which of these learning options is right for them via purchase of a class package in the desired format.
- Class Assignment. To ensure the best learning experience for our students, LingoAce will assign each pupil to a particular course level based on a review of their individual skill level and existing knowledge following their purchase of a class package and completion of a trial class.
- Class Scheduling. Once a student has committed to a certain class-time, they are expected to attend these classes on time. For group classes, this means attending the fixed schedule group classes they have committed to in advance. For individual classes, the student must attend those classes that they have scheduled in advance. For all classes, students have certain limited options to cancel, reschedule or take a leave of absence, as set forth further below.
Course Attendance
- Class Attendance. All classes will start and end according to their schedule time. If a student fails to enter the classroom on time, then they can not request a time extension to make-up the minutes they missed, nor will the student be provided with a replacement class.
- Class Consumption. Once a student enters the classroom, then their lesson will count as a consumed lesson and one lesson fee will be deducted from their class balance accordingly. A lesson fee will also be deducted if the student fails to show up for a pre-scheduled class. For the avoidance of doubt, a student will be charged a consumed lesson for any lesson that they attend or for any lesson where they are absent, provided they have not successfully applied for any kind of leave or rescheduling.
- Early Exits. If a student leaves the classroom of their own accord or because of their own technical difficulties, the lesson will still count as a consumed lesson.
Class Cancellations, Substitutions, Reassignments, Absences and Suspensions.
- Class Cancellation (Individual). Students in individual (1v1) classes may cancel any class up to 3 hours before the class starts without penalty. This option is not available for students in small group classes.
- Class Substitutions (Small Group). Each student in group classes may request up to 2 “class substitutions” each month. A class substitution allows the student to attend a similar class at a different time and is intended to provide students with some flexibility for their monthly scheduling. For each request, LingoAce will try to arrange for the student to attend a similar class of the same level and teaching pace, but there are no guarantees that all requests for substitution will be successful. If a substitute class is successful, then the student will attend the replacement class and then return to their original class group. Class substitutions can not be cancelled and most be requested at least 3 hours before the students next scheduled class.
- Class Reassignments (Small Group). If a student cannot keep pace with their originally assigned small group class, or if they need to adjust the time period, class level or teacher, they may submit a class reassignment request and then LingoAce will do our best to re-assign them to a more compatible class. To apply for reassignment, students should submit their application at least 1 working day prior to the start of a class. Once reassigned, the student should complete the remainder of their course package in the reassigned class. Once a student requests a class transfer, they will no longer be able to attend their previous class. The student’s remaining hours will be frozen, and we will make arrangements to transfer the student to a new class as quickly as possible. However, there is no guarantee that a transfer will be successful if, for example, we are unable to match the student with another open class or teacher meeting their desired requirements.
- Class Absences (Small Group and Individual). Each student may request 1 absence each month. If a student takes a pre-approved absence, then no lesson will be deducted from their course package for the missed class. However, once a student has applied for a leave of absence, they may not revoke this request. Unused absence requests are not retained and will not accumulate month-by-month.
- Class Suspensions (Small Group and Individual). If a student needs to request a longer period of absence, they may apply for a 7-90 day leave period at least 1 day in advance of their next class. Once an application is submitted, however, LingoAce will freeze the student’s course credits and that student will no longer be permitted to attend classes until either (1) they reach the end of their absence period, or (2) they apply for early reinstatement. If a small group student applies for early reinstatement, we will try to replace them in an ongoing class according to their class level and pace. There is no guarantee, however, that we may return you to your original class or that we may be successful in finding you another group class. Each class package provides students with one opportunity to apply for a class suspension, which is not cumulative and is automatically voided if not used during any one class package.
Other Class Provisions
- Class Balance. A student will lose their ability to attend any class once their class balance has dropped below 1. In such event, the student will need to purchase additional course credits to continue in this or any other class.
- Make-Up Classes. If there is a problem with our instructors or our platform, which results in a premature end to one of our classes, we will arrange for each of the students affected to attend a make-up class and will reschedule the class and instructor.
