Tell us about your child attending LingoAce?
Both my daughters, Emmalyne and Ellaryne are attending the 1v1 online Chinese Class SG syllabus program here at LingoAce since the start of Primary 1. Hence, Emmalyne who is in Primary 4 would be at LingoAce for 4 years, while Ellaryne (Primary 2) is 2 years in.
What were the most important factors for you in selecting a Chinese Tuition Centre?
As a parent with a teaching background myself, I have a lot of students who I had to counsel over the years who found Chinese very challenging, and thereafter wanted to drop to basic Chinese. Hence, I have one key criterion: my children’s Mandarin learning experience should be enjoyable instead of being academic driven. I personally believe that it is important that my kids enjoy learning Chinese because then there is no need for me to push them as they will be motivated to continue to do well on their own.

Coming from an English-speaking family, having an environment to speak proper Chinese has always been a pain-point for both me and my children. I personally feel that they had a very good Chinese education in preschool. Therefore as they transitioned into Primary 1, I was afraid that there will be a big jump in terms of the approach that the Primary school teachers take in teaching Chinese as compared to the fun approach taken my preschool teachers. Nevertheless, from the experience in school, together with what LingoAce has encouraged, Emmalyne is more willing to speak Chinese nowadays in her day-to-day and they do speak more confidently and proficiently as compared to them cousins.
Which Aspects of our Online Chinese program does your children enjoy the most?
One of the things that I do notice when I watch the playback videos of Emmalyne's online lesson is that my children enjoy the 1 on 1 attention and engagement with the LingoAce Chinese teacher a lot.

What I value the most about LingoAce is the flexibility in terms of scheduling that they provide. Whenever I need to choose a specific timeslot, there are always many teachers to choose from, and I can also choose a teacher that suits the personal learning styles of Emmalyne and Ellaryne. Again, the playback feature is a definite plus in terms of being able to gauge the dynamics and interactions between the teacher and my children and allows me to see if they are engaged and enjoying the lesson.

Will I? I have made multiple recommendations! I have recommended LingoAce to a lot of my friends, especially to those who struggle with speaking mandarin in their households like me.
